That’s right. Two posts in one day. Go me!
This morning during my treadmill time I got caught up on my google reader and while doing so came accross a post on Tosca Reno’s blog about healthy fat.
Did you know February is healthy fat month? There is a month or day for everything isn’t there? I’m not complaining because I love me some healthy fats.
In Tosca’s post she reminds us that we NEED fat to lose weight, maintain a healthy weight, improve skin, nails, hair, etc.
Best yet, healthy fat’s help keep us full. I’m learning this first hand with this whole carb cycling adventure I’m on.
Speaking of, so far so good! Today was my first no carb day and I feel amazing. No fatigue, weakness or hunger like I was expecting. (for those just tuning in check out this post to read more about my carb cycling approach). I credit most of my positive results to a) properly fueling with carbs the past 2 days b) incorporating a healthy fat at every meal today c)keeping today’s workout at a low intensity
Here’s what my meal plan looked like today:
preworkout: cofee with 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil (in LOVE with this combo btw)
post workout: shake with 1 cup blueberries, 1 cup spinach, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder and water
morning snack: protein pudding: 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, sprinkle of cocoa powder, 1/2 tbsp of cashew butter and water
Lunch: A HUGE salad with romain lettuce, broccoli, snow peas, carrots, crumbled blue cheese, banana peppers, red peppers and vinegar plus a few almonds on the side.
Afternoon Snack: 1 turkey burger w 1/2 cup edamame and 1/2 an avocado
Dinner: roast, carrots and onions.
Snack: carrots and one wedge of laughing cow cheese.
Tomorrow it’s back to high carbs and high intensity workouts. am back and chest and evening spin. Can’t wait!
