Weekend Roundup + Green Smoothie Recipe

by Brittany on December 23, 2012

Another weekend comes to an end. This one is exciting and a little different considering its right before Christmas!

Saturday morning I woke up and went straight to the gym for some glutes cardio. On the way home all I could think about was making my pumpkin protein pancakes. So I get home, turn the stove on and start pulling ingredients when J breaks the news. We were out of vanilla protein. I wanted to cry. Determined to still have a good meal I started ripping apart our fridge pulling all of the random things out of our fridge that looked appetizing and nutritious. This is what happened.

First I scrambled some eggs. There were only two left so I knew this wouldn’t be enough.  While they cooked I mixed Plain NF Cho with all natural pumpkin, chai seeds, shaved almond, cinnamon and pieces of Ezekiel raisin bread. OMG…..so so good!

We hung out around the house or a couple hours then made our way to dinner. Josh made reservations at one of our favorite Thai spots. Love him.

I got the drunken noodle like always. This time with Chicken.

After dinner we went to one of our favorite places. Wegman’s! I seriously love that place. Now if only we could get a Trader Joe’s and/or Whole Foods somewhere close!

While at Wegman’s something very unusual happened to me. I got a sudden and strong craving for ice cream. Although I love my sweets, especially chocolate, I’m not a huge ice cream person and never have been. Since its the holidays and I rarely ever crave ice cream, I decided to give in. And, OMG am I glad I did.

This stuff was amazing!! I can’t even put into words.

When we finally made our way back home I had a package waiting for me

My pumpkin banana protein shake won runner up in Silk’s Autumn Recipe Pinterest Contest! My prize was this sweet BPA free tumbler glass, a coupon for a free gallon of milk and a really nice, hand written note of well wishes. Seriously made my day!

This morning when I woke up I was craving something super clean. Probably a result of last nights ice cream binge. What’s cleaner than a Green Smoothie?

So good.  I highly recommend making this and even trying different fruits and veggies.  The spinach takes on the taste of the other ingredients so you don’t taste it, but get all of it’s healthy benefits! Win, Win!

While J was at the gym I snuck out and did some last minute Christmas shopping. Shortly after we both met back at the house he was firing up the grill. Grilled marinated chicken and homemade potato wedges.

Doesn’t he look good cooking?

I cannot believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I have to work early but will be home in time to get ready and take part in the festivities!  I may be MIA on the blog until after Christmas but will probably be Instagraming since I can’t help myself.

Happy Holidays!!!!!

Hi, is that one serving for smoothie? I worry about all that fruit in one sitting. Like I don’t think I’d be able to eat an entire apple +banana (one piece of fruit plus other stuff is cool, but I’ve never eaten multiple pieces of fruit at same time) at breakfast, so worry that in a smoothie it might have “bad” effects, lol. Thoughts?

Hello and thanks for stopping by! This is actually 2 servings. When I make it I usually freeze half and save for another day. I have blood sugar problems so I understand your concern about consuming all those fruits at once. I usually have this after a workout so the sugars are burnt faster and used to bring the protein to the muscles faster for recovery. Also, if you still think its too much fruit you could use smaller servings of fruit and add ice for consistency!
